TRAILER - THE HONEYMOON KILLERS (1969)

THE HONEYMOON KILLERS is based on the true story of Martha Beck and Ray Fernandez, dubbed the "Lonely Hearts Killers" in the the forties. This was directed by Leonard Kastle who replaced two other directors (one of which was Martin Scorsese). Though this was his first and last film, he created an amazing picture. Francois Truffaut called this his favorite American film of all-time. It is directed with a passion for the characters, they are never mocked or presented as anything other than what they are. This was shot by Oliver Wood (the Bourne films) in a grainy black and white which adds to the overall realism of the film, giving it a tough and pulpy feel.

Love is a bitch...called Martha.

See you on forty deuce,
