TRAILER - POINT BLANK (1967)

John Boorman takes the classic noir and puts it through a psychedelic grinder only to create one of the toughest, grittiest neo-noirs ever to be filmed. Based on Donald Westlake's Parker novel "The Hunter"(writing as Richard Stark), Lee Marvin is Walker who is double-crossed and left for dead, now he wants the money owed to him and he isn't going to stop until he gets his $93,000.

Parker has come to the screen before in various incarnations. The character has been played by Mel Gibson (PAYBACK), Robert Duvall (THE OUTFIT) and others, but those films never captured the toughness that Marvin brought to the role. POINT BLANK is in my all-time top 20. For the uninitiated looking for lesson in style, Boorman does a masterful job. For those that have never read Westlake's Parker novels, I couldn't be more jealous. The first time I hit "The Hunter" was a feeling of discovery that has rarely been reproduced.

There are two kinds of people in his up-tight world: his victims and his women. And sometimes you can't tell them apart.
