Lively sword and sorcery tale made to capitalize on the release of CONAN THE BARBARIAN (1982) is one of the best of the knockoffs no matter how high the cheese level can get. A tongue n' cheek script and generous helpings of gore and nudity help make THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER even more pulpy than CONAN, capturing the flavor of old Robert E. Howard short stories better than the John Milius film did overall. One of director Albert Pyun's best efforts.
