Poe's Trailer Trash: Destroy All Monsters (1968)

Originally released in Japan as Attack of the Marching Monsters, this Toho produced daikaiju eiga movie (monster movie) is the Oceans Eleven of giant monsters movies as it features eleven of the studio's rubber suited stars. The year is 1999. A race of female aliens who call themselves Kilaaks decide to invade and conquer Earth, and naturally they focus on an island called Japan as their initial target. And how else to invade our planet then to brainwash and unleash all of Japan's giant monsters upon the world. Thus, Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Anguirus, Minilla, Baragon, Varan, Gorosaurus, Manda and Kumonga are sent on rampages around the globe, destroying New York, Moscow, Paris and other important cities with their rubber feet and beaks. Luckily, Captain Yamabe and his spaceship, Moonlight SY-3, are on hand to break the monster's spell and turn the tables on the invaders. As a least resort, the Kilaaks sick space monster King Ghidorah upon the Earth monsters for a final battle royale.

Destroy All Monsters is the ninth film in the Godzilla series. The film was originally to be the Toho monster gang's last hurrah, but luckily for fans of these crazy monster bashes, the series has continued on to this day. The film has it all: city rampages, gun battles, spaceships, female aliens (strangely they all look Japanese) and the mother of all monster battles. The film throws in everything but the kitchen sink for the sake of a good show and it was the last of the colorful 60s films that are still considered the best in the series. So if you're in the mood for some loud monster mayhem, grab yourself a sixer of Sapporo Lager and a buddy or two who can handle watching Rodan eat a dolphin and throw in Destroy All Monsters.
