TRAILER - IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE (1958)

The year is 1973. One of the first rocket ships to reach Mars takes off after a rescue mission with two extra passengers. As luck would have it, one of those passangers is a blood thirsty Martian that has hidden in the ship's air ducts and begins picking off the crew one by one. Sound familiar? It should, as years later a writer named Dan O'Bannon stole this basic idea and wrote his own little alien in a spaceship story, turning it into a film called ALIEN (1979).

The film that inspired O'Bannon, IT! THE TERROR FROM BEY0ND SPACE , is an effective science fiction thriller that doesn't always get the credit it deserves as it is under produced and usually gets lumped in with a lot of the sci fi cheapies produced during the 1950s. The flick offers up some decent atmosphere and features a memorable monster that is played by Ray "Crash" Corrigan; an actor famous for appearing in gorilla costumes throughout his career. It! was his last film.

Worth a look for monster lovers and fans of ALIEN (1979).
