Bob Boyle: Ann? Mommy says you're not dead. Is that true?

A “video nasty” was the UK version of the "parental advisory" label that started appearing on CD’s in the late 80’s. A “video nasty” was a video cassette that was criticized for its excessive violent content by the press, religious organizations, and other outlets. HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY was slapped with that label mainly because of two violent murders that occur in the film which are gruesome even by today’s standards. The picture went through several edited releases but we will soon see the full uncut version from Blue Underground (Bill Lustig’s distribution house) hopefully in 2011. This is a brilliant film by Lucio Fulci that I think features a classic story and a great, methodical approach to the direction. Though ZOMBIE remains his best film, HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY has to be a very close second.

See you on forty deuce,
