TRAILER - Keoma (1976)

Keoma is in my top 10 of spaghetti westerns. It represents some of the very best work in the genre. While Leone and Carbucci both made better films, director Enzo G. Castellari created a film that has a style and touch all it’s own. Castellari uses the action scenes to advance the plot, they are never throw away battles. Like Peckinpah the use of slow-motion is prominent and gives the battles an epic feel. Franco Nero is nearly unrecognizable as the title character, his tough and grizzled look lacks the polish of some of his earlier roles and it pays off huge. This is one of last true spaghetti westerns made and it’s a classic. I also dig the 70's headband look...so there's that as well.

See you on forty deuce,
G
