The Kray twins were the largest perpetrators of organized crime in London’s East End during the 1950’s and ‘60’s. Armed robbery, arson, assault, torture, all in a day’s work. In VILLAIN (1971), Richard Burton stars as Vic Dakin, a character based on the Kray twins. He essentially takes the character traits of each twin and roles it up in to one package of ruthlessness. VILLAIN has one of the best Burton performances you can find. He is given dialogue that pops you straight in the mush. This is a forgotten eru-gangster film that takes full advantage of our motto “Tough films for the rough crowd.”
